What topics does the Safeguarding Children Level 2 course cover?

This Safeguarding Children Level 2 online course covers safeguarding and the role of health and social care workers in identifying and working with vulnerable children. Building on the knowledge gained from the Level 1 course, this online training course provides a more detailed understanding of child safeguarding for those who work with children on a regular basis.

After completing this course, you will be able to identify risk factors for child abuse and understand the importance of early intervention and effective advocacy. You will know how and when to refer a child and the steps involved in making a child protection referral. You will also be able to document safeguarding concerns appropriately and understand how multi-agency teams work together on child safeguarding.

The first part of this course covers how to identify children at risk, including the use of threshold documents and the role played by Local Child Safeguarding Boards. The principles and benefits of Early Help are discussed and you will receive guidance on how to react appropriately to a disclosure of abuse made by a child in care.

The next section of the course discusses the referral process and record keeping. You will also cover how to work with other child safeguarding agencies and multi-agency groups.

Finally, the course covers the risk factors around radicalisation and FGM including how health and social care workers should react if they suspect these are taking place. This topic is covered in greater depth than in the Safeguarding Children Level 1 course.

How is the Safeguarding Children Level 2 course assessed?

It will take around two hours’ study to complete the Safeguarding Children Level 2 online course. Once you have completed both units of the course, you will then be able to take the online multiple choice exam.

This exam assesses your understanding of the course and a minimum score of 70% is required to pass. Unlimited exam resits are included in your course fee and when you have passed the exam, you will be presented with a free course certificate for your records which you can download or print.
