What does the Safeguarding Adults Level 1 course cover?
This course provides an introductory overview of adult safeguarding, including the role played by health and social care workers in identifying and caring for vulnerable adults.
Completing the course will provide you with a solid grounding in adult safeguarding practice, including the six principles of safeguarding that underpin the Care Act 2014.
You will learn about the policies, procedures and legislation for adult safeguarding. There is a strong emphasis on person-centred care, including what person centred care means and how to implement it within your care setting. Record keeping is an important part of safeguarding vulnerable adults and this is also covered by the Safeguarding Adults Level 1 course.
Safeguarding Adults Level 1 also covers the different forms of abuse that health and social care workers are likely to come across in the course of their work, including financial abuse, physical abuse and modern slavery. Radicalisation and extremism can also be a concern in care settings and workers in the health and social care sector need to be aware of the warning signs. You’ll learn how to recognise the main signs of abuse and the steps that you should take if you suspect that someone in your care is being abused.
You will also learn when to report concerns and what action is necessary if you have concerns about an adult in your care. Some of these situations can be very complex and the course provides guidance on how to handle them with sensitivity.
How is the Safeguarding Adults Level 1 course assessed?
Completing the Safeguarding Adults Level 1 course takes around one hour and the course is assessed through an online multiple choice exam with a 70% pass mark. Your course fee includes unlimited resits if they are required.
